Diary for Poetry is a fashion collection that explores grief, memory, and inherited emotion through garments, photography, and performance.

The project began when I read my mother’s diary after my father passed away. As both of us rarely expressed emotions openly, the diary revealed feelings I had never heard directly—loneliness, regret, love, and unresolved grief. I began to understand her writing as a form of poetry.

The collection translates these emotions into material form. Text and images from family archives are transformed into textile prints, allowing personal history to be carried on the body. Garments are draped directly, creating unstable and shifting silhouettes that reflect how memory and grief overlap and return.

Inspired by traditional Korean working-class clothing, the pieces incorporate worn edges and layered structures, referencing labor, exhaustion, and endurance.

Rather than focusing only on loss, the project embraces the idea that we can “live like poetry,” finding sensitivity and meaning even within grief.
